PROCLAIMING JUNE 12TH OF 2025, TO BE "COX IMPACT DAY" IN THE STATE OF | |
RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, Cox Communications is committed to creating meaningful moments of |
2 | human connection through technology. As the largest private broadband company in America, |
3 | Cox operates fiber-powered networks in more than 30 States, providing connections and |
4 | advanced managed IT and cloud services for nearly 12 million homes and businesses nationwide, |
5 | and is dedicated to empowering others to build a better future and celebrate diverse products, |
6 | people, suppliers, communities and the characteristic that make each one unique; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Cox Communications is the largest division of Cox Enterprises, a family |
8 | owned business founded in 1898 by Governor James M. Cox; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Since 2001, Cox employees and business partners have invested in Cox |
10 | Charities, a charitable giving initiative of Cox Communications. Cox Charities has invested more |
11 | than $11 million dollars in grants and in-kind support to organizations providing S.T.E.A.M. |
12 | (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) enrichment programs to youth throughout the |
13 | northeast; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Cox believes in community action through giving and loves the position |
15 | they hold as a contributing member of the community through their business, their employees, |
16 | and their customers. This compels Cox to provide support with monetary, media and premium |
17 | gift contributions that provide goodwill to organizations and causes in need, and strengthens the |
18 | social, economic and educational infrastructure of our community; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Cox demonstrates what they firmly believe by their focused areas of giving |

1 | concentrating their support in, but not limited to, the following key areas: Environment -- Cox |
2 | supports organizations and initiatives that encourage environmental sustainability and |
3 | conservation; Civic and Community Engagement -- Cox supports charitable and community |
4 | organizations that make a positive difference in the communities they serve; Youth & Education - |
5 | - Cox supports programs targeted toward providing children the essentials they need to grow up |
6 | into self-supporting and contributing members of society, and realizing the importance of |
7 | education, Cox supports initiatives that enhance educational efforts, particularly at the K-12 level; |
8 | Diversity -- Cox supports organizations that directly support the many facets of the richly diverse |
9 | communities they serve; and Technology -- Cox supports initiatives that enhance technology |
10 | curriculum for children; now, therefore be it |
11 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby proclaims June 12th of |
12 | 2025, to be “Cox Impact Day” in the State of Rhode Island and offers sincerest thanks to Cox for |
13 | its philanthropic efforts in Rhode Island; and be it further |
14 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
15 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Ms. Nora Crowley, Director, Government |
16 | Affairs, Cox Communications, and Ms. Rosie Fernandez, Manager of Community & Public |
17 | Affairs for Cox Communications. |
