EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF PAUL J. FOX, JR. | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Paul J. |
2 | Fox, Jr., of Cranston. He was the beloved husband of Wendy Fox for 49 years; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Paul J. Fox, Jr., known to many as “PJ”, was the son of the late Paul J. and |
4 | Marian E. Fox. He was a graduate of Our Lady of Providence and Providence College. Mr. Fox |
5 | was a hard-working man who had a long and distinguished professional career. His first position |
6 | was with his father, Paul J. Fox, Sr., with the family business, the PJ Fox Paper Company. Mr. |
7 | Fox eventually rose to the position of company President and later in his career, he worked in the |
8 | insurance industry and finally at the Internal Revenue Service; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Paul J. Fox, Jr., was a member of numerous professional, civic, and |
10 | religious organizations, including the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and the Sons of Irish Kings. He |
11 | served with distinction as a former Commissioner of the Cranston Redevelopment Agency, and |
12 | also served as a member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Providence and was the first |
13 | President of the Board of the Genesis Center in Providence. He also received the Paul Harris |
14 | Award from the Rotary International. Mr. Fox was a lifelong communicant of St. Paul Church; |
15 | and |
16 | WHEREAS, Paul J. Fox first met the love of his life, Wendy Baltzer, when they were |
17 | fellow students at ES Rhodes Elementary School. They met again nearly two decades later, and |
18 | embarked on a wonderful and loving marriage for almost five decades that included raising their |
19 | five children in the Edgewood Neighborhood of Cranston; and |
20 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Wendy, Paul J. Fox, Jr., leaves behind his children |

1 | Joy, PJ III, Molly, Tim, and his wife, Ami, and Hannah. Mr. Fox was the doting grandfather of |
2 | Luke, Lennon, Madeline, and Declan. Mr. Fox is also survived by his siblings, Mary Simas, and |
3 | her husband, Paul, Cathy Fox, Kevin Fox and his wife, Mary, Mike Fox and his wife, Ginny, |
4 | Annie Stringfellow and her husband, Jon, John Fox and his wife, Kathy, Bridget Bugbee and her |
5 | husband, Kevin, Ginny Byrnes and her husband, Brian, Joe Fox and his wife, Debbie, and |
6 | brother-in-law Carl Hjerpe. Mr. Fox was predeceased by his brother Jimmy Fox and sister Susie |
7 | Hjerpe. Mr. Fox also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; now, |
8 | therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest |
10 | condolences on the passing of Mr. Paul J. Fox, Jr.; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Wendy Fox and the Fox Family. |
