EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ELEANOR C. BOWERS | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Eleanor |
2 | C. Bowers of Warwick. She was the beloved wife of the late George H. Bowers, to whom she |
3 | was married for 58 years. She was the beloved mother and grandmother of Rhode Island State |
4 | Senate staffers Susan Nolin and Julio Cresci II; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Bowers was born in Providence, the only daughter of the late John |
6 | W. Smith. Ms. Bowers lived in North Providence before she moved to Winthrop, Maine; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Bowers was a devoted mother and hard-working woman who strove |
8 | tirelessly to provide for her family and loved ones. Ms. Bowers worked as the lead hostess for the |
9 | former Turk's Head Building Club, retiring in 1986, where she was beloved by her co-workers, |
10 | patrons, supervisors, and the owners of the club; and |
11 | WHEREAS, In retirement, Ms. Bowers enjoyed making hats and donating them to |
12 | children in need. She enjoyed playing bingo and doting on her children and grandchildren. She |
13 | was also a member of the American Legion, Unit 40, in Winthrop, Maine; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Eleanor Bowers leaves behind her children, Kathleen Gould and her |
15 | husband, Ray, Maureen Gallagher and her partner Fred Stone, Patricia Eddy and her husband, |
16 | John, and Susan Nolin and her husband, Richard. Ms. Bowers also leaves behind her |
17 | grandchildren, Jenifer Dube, Dennis Gallagher II, Jessica Jeror, Michael Eddy, Matthew Eddy, |
18 | Katie Orabona and Julio Cresci II, and nine great-grandchildren; now, therefore be it |
19 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest |
20 | condolences to the Bowers family on the passing of Eleanor C. Bowers; and be it further |
