It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 22-6 of the General Laws entitled "Committees and Staff" is hereby |
2 | amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 22-6-16. Nonprofit funding transparency. |
4 | (a) Any nonprofit entity that receives grants or other funding in excess of fifty thousand |
5 | dollars ($50,000) from the general assembly directly or appropriated through the state budget for |
6 | any fiscal year shall, within ninety (90) days of the receipt of the grant or appropriation, provide |
7 | information relating to employee compensation within the nonprofit entity to the general assembly. |
8 | (b) The nonprofit entity shall disclose the total benefit package paid to the five (5) highest |
9 | compensated employees with reportable compensation of at least one hundred thousand dollars |
10 | ($100,000) from the organization during the previous fiscal year. This disclosure shall include a |
11 | description of the position, the total salary or compensation paid along with all benefits provided |
12 | including, but not limited to, health insurance, retirement or pension contributions, and any other |
13 | allowances for items such as automobiles, lodging or communication devices. Provided, however, |
14 | the name of the individual employee need not be disclosed. |
15 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

1 | This act would require any nonprofit that receives grants or other funding from the general |
2 | assembly in excess of fifty thousand ($50,000) dollars to provide certain information relating to |
3 | employee compensation of the previous year's five (5) highest compensated employees with |
4 | reportable compensation of at least $100,000 to the general assembly, as a condition for requesting |
5 | state funds from the general assembly. |
6 | This act would take effect upon passage. |
