J O I N T   R E S O L U T I O N

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $1,000,000 TO THE RHODE ISLAND FOOD BANK

     Introduced By: Senators Mack, Vargas, Kallman, Murray, Acosta, and Ujifusa

     Referred To: Senate Finance

     WHEREAS, Currently, Rhode Island is facing food insecurity with a projected shortfall

of $400 million for the fiscal year 2025-2026; and

     WHEREAS, According to the RI Food Bank, thirty-eight percent of Rhode Island

households are facing food insecurity and there is a growing concern about funding cuts that

could negatively impact the number of people it can help; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of money in the treasury not

otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2025-2026, the sum of one million dollars ($1,000,000)

to the Rhode Island Food Bank; and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw

their orders upon the general treasurer for the payment of said sum, or so much thereof as may be

from time to time required, upon receipt of properly authenticated vouchers.
