S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE OZANIAN FAMILY ON THE PASSING

OF JAMES W. OZANIAN

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate of the State of Rhode Island has

2

learned of the passing of James W. Ozanian. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Ozanian for

3

43 years; and

4

     WHEREAS, James W. Ozanian was born in Boston, the son of Aram and Violet

5

Ozanian, and the brother of Alfred Ozanian and his wife, Lisanne. Mr. Ozanian was a longtime

6

resident of Woonsocket and a hard-working man who strove daily to provide for his family and

7

loved ones. Mr. Ozanian was a Postal Clerk for the United States Postal Service in Providence for

8

more than 32 years and served as the Past President of the American Postal Workers Union for

9

the State of Rhode Island; and

10

     WHEREAS, Mr. Ozanian was a United States Navy Veteran who served our nation with

11

honor and distinction during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Hoel. In recognition of his service,

12

Mr. Ozanian received the National Defense Service Medal; and

13

     WHEREAS, Mr. Ozanian was a member of Cercle Laurier, and a former member of the

14

Manville Sportsmen’s Club. In his free time, Mr. Ozanian enjoyed spending quality time with his

15

family, having Wednesday coffee with his close friends, and riding motorcycles with his wife,

16

Barbara. On one special trip, they drove cross-country on their motorcycles and a camper; and

17

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Barbara, Mr. Ozanian leaves behind his children,

18

Jeffrey Ozanian, Colin Ozanian, and Bobbi Ozanian, and his nine grandchildren, James Deziel,

19

Devin Dean and his wife, Grace, John Dean, Taitum Ozanian, and her husband, Germani Rosario,

Julie Kubena and her husband, Zachary, Maggie Ozanian, CJ Ozanian, Dash Ozanian, and Violet

2

Ozanian; now, therefore be it

3

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest

4

condolences to the Family of James W. Ozanian; and be it further

5

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

6

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Barbara Ozanian and Family.
