S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXTENDING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF CAROL A. BRIDEN

     Introduced By: Senators Lawson, and Britto

     Referred To: Placed on the Senate Consent Calendar

     WHEREAS, This Senate was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Carol A. Briden,

a longtime resident of the East Side of Providence, and most recently at Eastgate Nursing &

Rehabilitation Center in the City of East Providence; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Briden was born in the City of Central Falls, a daughter of the late John

Curry and Lucille Heroux, step-daughter of the late Gerard Heroux, and the sister of Darlene

Rutland, Stephanie Curry, and Shannon McGrath; and

     WHEREAS, A graduate of Brown University, Ms. Briden was an accomplished writer

and artist who enjoyed photography, painting, and being part of a local writer's group; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Briden doted on her family. She was the devoted mother of David

Briden and his wife, Valerie, and James Briden and his wife, Mary. She was also blessed with

five beautiful grandchildren, Shannon Briden, Rachel Briden, Hope Briden, Andrew Briden and

Tess Briden; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to artistic endeavors, Ms. Briden loved going to Newport's

Second Beach and Jazz Festival, but always foremost in her heart was her time spent with her

family particularly at Saturday night dinners and days at Colt State Park with her beloved

grandchildren; and

     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Carol Briden a loving mother, grandmother, and

friend to many, left an indelible mark on the lives of those she knew and loved, and she is dearly

missed; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends heartfelt

condolences on the passing of Carol A. Briden; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to David Briden and Family, and James Briden

and Family.
