EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JEANNETTE D. ALYWARD | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |
2 | Jeannette D. (Fage) Alyward of North Kingstown on March 17, 2026, following a brief illness. |
3 | Born in Bronx, New York, she was the cherished daughter of John Harry Selby and Helena Anne |
4 | (Harview) Selby; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Jeannette was the beloved wife of James R. Alyward for 19 years, the |
6 | loving mother of Jennifer L. Barnes and her husband, Christopher, and Michele A. Hawkins and |
7 | her husband, John, and the devoted stepmother of James R. Alyward III and his wife, Melissa, |
8 | and Whitney L. Alyward; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Jeanette was also the proud and loving grandmother of Adelyn, Ethan, |
10 | Greyson, and Landon, and a cherished sister to Keith Fage and his wife, Martha, Robert Fage and |
11 | his husband, Bob, and Steven Fage and his wife, Heather, in addition to being remembered fondly |
12 | by her many nieces and nephews; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In 1998, Jeannette began her distinguished career with the Town of North |
14 | Kingstown, where she faithfully served the community for several decades, most recently as |
15 | Town Clerk. Jeannette viewed her career not merely as a job, but as a reflection of her character. |
16 | Because of this, she brought to her work tremendous dedication, integrity and a profound sense of |
17 | responsibility, earning her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and the gratitude of the |
18 | town she wholeheartedly served; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Jeanette found her greatest happiness in her devotion to her family and the |
20 | simple joys in beloved family traditions especially creating lasting memories on the shores of |

1 | Maine during annual trips to Old Orchard Beach, and summer days spent by her poolside where |
2 | she welcomed family and friends and neighborhood children; now, therefore, be it |
3 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends its deepest |
4 | condolences to the Alyward family on the passing of Jeannette D. Alyward. She was an |
5 | extraordinary woman whose legacy of loving devotion to her family and exemplary service to her |
6 | community will undoubtedly leave an enduring impact on those who had the good fortune to |
7 | know and love her; and be it further |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
9 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to James R. Alyward and family. |
