WHEREAS, Dupuis Oil was founded in 1898 by Frank Dupuis. Beginning as a plumbing and steamfitting business, Dupuis Oil was responsible for heating equipment installations in institutions, college campuses, hospitals, and residences; and
WHEREAS, In 1940, with an expanded work force of 140, Dupuis Oil started delivering fuel oil; this lead to the phasing out of the plumbing end of the business. Since Dupuis was installing heating equipment for the Ferland Corp, they ended up servicing all of Darlington and Rumford; and
WHEREAS, In 1970, Frank Dupuis II and his brother, Ernest managed the company through the first oil embargo, expanded and moved the operation to 401 Walcott Street, and acquired 3 major oil companies (Gilbane Oil, Penna Fuel, and Marvel Oil); and
WHEREAS, Frank has added his two sons Frank III "Pete" and Mark as well as acquiring Sebring/Limerock Oil and Moreau Brothers; and
WHEREAS, Dupuis Oil has stayed in business because of solid value, customer satisfaction, and satisfied employees. This equation makes then stand out as a quality company and shows why they have been around for a century; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this General Assembly of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations congratulates Dupuis Oil on the celebration of their centennial year and also recognizes them for providing the residents of Rhode Island with quality products and good, old fashioned service during that time; and be it
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Frank Dupuis II, President of Dupuis Oil.
