RELATING TO EDUCATION -- PERMANENT SCHOOL FUND

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 16-4 of the General Laws entitled "Permanent School Fund" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

{ADD 16-4-6.1. Adjustment of appropriation from the fund. -- ADD} {ADD If the average daily enrollment of pupils attending public schools in a city or town increases by more than two percent (2%) over the October 1 report at mid-year, the state's share of the funding to the affected city or town shall be adjusted to reflect the increase and the city or town shall be reimbursed on a per-pupil cost basis. ADD}

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

This act would allow a municipality to receive a reimbursement out of the permanent school fund if enrollment of pupils attending public schools increases by more than two percent (2%).

This act would take effect upon passage.
