WHEREAS, Carmel Rose Tessitore entered the world on November 17, 1957. At 7 lbs. 4oz., she was the third daughter of John and Anna Tessitore; and
WHEREAS, Living in the Natick section of West Warwick, she entered kindergarten at Sacred Heart School. Known to friends and family as Cami, she joined Ricky Zarlenga to become the ballroom dance duo of the Al Angelone Dance Studio. They appeared at many supper clubs and local television shows including "Dialing for Dollars" and "Spotlight on Talent"; and
WHEREAS, She has held the titles of Little Miss Natick and Little Miss Personality and was Mascot for the West Warwick Drum and Bugle Corps. At the tender age of 13, she finally mastered the fine art of riding a two wheel bicycle with training wheels; and
WHEREAS, She entered West Warwick High School and tried out for cheerleading. Already being in show business, she was so unique that she was awarded the distinct honor of dressing as "the wizard" and appearing in all the football games; and
WHEREAS, It was during these times that she met her future hubby, Sam Malo. After graduating in 1975 and attending CCRI, she married her high school sweetheart on June 4, 1977. Four years later they were doubly blessed as Sam, Jr. was born on April 24, 1981; and
WHEREAS, In the late 1980's, Cami and her friend Carolyn Gelsomino created Concetta and Guiseppe, the Italian duo; and
WHEREAS, Cami's first employment came at the age of 16 when she was employed by the Phenix Assembly. Making Easter baskets reminded one of the classic Lucille Ball episode and her employment ended quickly. She was later employed by Sears and for the past ten years has been employed by Kent County Hospital; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, Cami became involved with Sears WWEAVE, a volunteer program in West Warwick. She was Secretary and Executive Director. During this tenure, membership and volunteer hours grew. They became involved with the town's schools and helped with charities. She has been involved with this great organization for 12 years and is currently President; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Cami Malo on her 40th birthday. She has touched the lives and hearts of many people with her generosity, compassion and her most wonderful gift, her sense of humor. she is always there for everyone and is an inspiration to us all; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Carmel Rose Tessitore Malo.
