WHEREAS, Roger Williams Home Care, a department of Roger Williams Medical Center, was founded ten years ago to provide quality nursing care for patients discharged from the hospital. With services ranging from skilled nursing care, chemotherapy, pain management, and physical therapy to psychosocial support for patients and their families by social workers, Roger Williams Home Care is "just what the doctor ordered"; and
WHEREAS, Providing services throughout Rhode Island and Southwestern Massachusetts, their staff of 132 includes: physical and occupational therapists, social workers, a nutritionist, certified nursing assistants, and a management support staff; and
WHEREAS, Not resting on their laurels, Roger Williams has implemented new programs such as an expansion of the IV therapy program to serve nursing homes and subacute care facilities, a new collaborative program with the URI School of Nursing, and nurse training programs with CCRI and RIC; and
WHEREAS, In the last fiscal year, they completed more than 81,000 visits, crisscrossing the highways of Rhode Island and logging over a half million miles and providing care and compassion to many grateful people; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Roger Williams Home Care on its 10th anniversary of providing quality home care; and be it further,
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Roger Williams Home Care.
