WHEREAS, Branch Manager for General Accident Insurance Company of America since 1977, Edward H. Berube has been a prime mover in the success of this dynamic organization. Joining General Accident on September 2, 1969 as a Special Agent in the Providence Service Office, Ed's dedication and finely honed business acumen led to the rapid development of the Rhode Island territory and the conversion of the service office into a full service branch in July of 1977; and
WHEREAS, Appointed Resident Vice President in recognition of his superior leadership and accomplishments in April of 1991, Edward Berube's service to General Accident and the entire insurance industry over the years has been well documented. Working on a number of important committees for Rhode Island Department of Insurance, he was appointed to the Governor's Insurance Council of Rhode Island by Governor Lincoln Almond in May of 1995; and
WHEREAS, During his superb 28 years of service, General Accident's agency partners and Ed Berube's management team have captured a significant share of the area market and achieved outstanding profitability; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby joins the family, friends and colleagues of Edward H. Berube in celebrating his myriad achievements as Resident Vice President of the Rhode Island Branch Office of General Accident Insurance Company of America. Held in the utmost esteem by anyone fortunate enough to have worked with him, Ed is retiring after 28 years of incomparable service to General Accident and the insurance industry. We all wish Ed, his wife Peg and family, continued happiness, success and fulfillment for many, many years to come; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Edward H. Berube.
