WHEREAS, A native of Fall River, Massachusetts, Joseph R. Pavao graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1958 before attending Boston University, where he majored in Education and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1962. Mr. Pavao continued his studies at Bridgewater State College, earning a Master of Education degree in Guidance in 1971. He has continued his post graduate studies over the years, including additional course work in School Administration; and
WHEREAS, Hired by the Tiverton School Committee in 1966 as a high school science teacher, Joseph R. Pavao coached high school football in Tiverton during the late sixties and early seventies. He became an elementary guidance counselor servicing all of Tiverton's elementary schools in 1970, and was appointed Principal of Fort Barton School in 1975; and
WHEREAS, For a number of years, Mr. Pavao has enjoyed system-wide responsibilities that include coordinating the K-12 bus program, synchronizing the Rhode Island and Tiverton school department standardized testing program, grant writing, and serving as a mentor to new administrators; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools in Tiverton, Joseph R. Pavao, on his retirement. This House, moreover, wishes Joseph, his wife, Diane, and their family continued happiness, success and fulfillment now that they will have more time to be together; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to retiring Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools in Tiverton, Joseph R. Pavao.
