RECOGNIZING MARCH 31, 2026 AS "401GIVES DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE

ISLAND

     WHEREAS, The citizens of the State of Rhode Island commit to raising $5 Million

during 401Gives, by participating in the state’s largest day of giving to benefit our nonprofit

community; and

     WHEREAS, 401Gives offers a platform for every nonprofit to share its story, while also

giving every Rhode Islander the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors;

and

     WHEREAS, Every day in the State of Rhode Island, nonprofit organizations strengthen

our communities and economy. They keep our neighbors safe and warm, protect our

environment, care for our grandparents, educate our children, shelter our pets, entertain us

through the arts, and organize community events that enrich the quality of life across Rhode

Island; and

     WHEREAS, During natural disasters and other times of crisis, Rhode Island’s nonprofit

community is always present to help family members and neighbors in need, and during

401Gives their stories deserve to be told and their work merits financial support; and

     WHEREAS, 401Gives brings awareness to the important work happening across Rhode

Island’s nonprofit sector every day, uniting hundreds of local nonprofit organizations and

thousands of donors in support of stronger communities; and

     WHEREAS, 401Gives is powered by the Alliance for Nonprofit Impact in partnership

with United Way of Rhode Island, and is supported by sponsors and partners committed to

activating philanthropy throughout the state; and

     WHEREAS, The number 401 is special. It is far more than an area code — it is a symbol

of our neighborhoods, communities, and the connections we share with one another. 401Gives is

more than a giving day; it is a movement; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

recognizes March 31, 2026, as "401Gives Day" and encourages all Rhode Islanders to recognize

and support the nonprofit organizations that make our state stronger every day; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to United Way of Rhode Island, the Alliance for

Nonprofit Impact, and key 401Gives sponsors in recognition of their leadership in advancing

philanthropy across the state.
