RECOGNIZING MARCH 2026 AS "NATIONAL CREDIT EDUCATION MONTH" AND

COMMENDING THOSE ORGANIZATIONS THAT FOCUS ON FINANCIAL LITERACY

EDUCATION IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Annually, National Credit Education Month promotes education about

2

financial literacy topics such as credit and the significance of responsible credit management; and

3

     WHEREAS, National Credit Education Month encourages pioneers in credit restoration

4

and education, as well as banks, businesses, and organizations, to provide opportunities for

5

people to enhance their financial skills and access the information and tools needed to achieve a

6

high credit score; and

7

     WHEREAS, During the month, organizations that provide educational resources offer

8

services including workshops, webinars, and seminars to help consumers learn about budgeting,

9

saving, debt management, credit scores, and credit reports; and

10

     WHEREAS, National Credit Education Month reminds consumers to review their credit

11

reports for errors or inaccuracies and helps individuals gain access to higher loan acceptance rates

12

and qualifications; and

13

     WHEREAS, During this month, individuals are encouraged to take steps to learn more

14

about managing credit and creating good financial habits that will ensure an excellent credit

15

report; now, therefore be it

16

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island recognizes

17

March 2026 as "National Credit Education Month" and commends the many organizations that

18

focus on financial literacy education in the State of Rhode Island such as: RI Jump$tart Coalition,

19

Junior Achievement of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Financial Capability Consortium, Capital

Good Fund, Financial Literacy Youth Initiative (FLY), Navigant Credit Union, Washington

2

Trust, Westerly Community Credit Union, along with several others; and be it further

3

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

4

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the National Financial Educators Council.
