RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY -- ABUSE IN HEALTHCARE FACILITIES | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 23-17.8 of the General Laws entitled "Abuse in Healthcare |
2 | Facilities" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 23-17.8-2.1. Immigration status of patient. |
4 | It shall be violation of the provisions of this chapter for any personnel in any healthcare |
5 | facility, including any hospital, emergency or urgent care facility, to ask any patient their |
6 | immigration status or to ask the patient to present proof of their legal presence in the United States. |
7 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
