H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ANN MARIE RASPALLO

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House of Representatives has learned of the

2

passing of Ann Marie Raspallo. She was the beloved wife of Deacon Thomas R. Raspallo for

3

nearly 60 years; and

4

     WHEREAS, Ann Marie Raspallo was born in Providence, on June 10, 1943, the daughter

5

of the late James and Carmella Peters. Mrs. Raspallo was a devoted wife and mother who created

6

a warm, loving and nurturing home for her husband, and the children they raised together; and

7

     WHEREAS, In 1965, she married the love of her life, Deacon Thomas Raspallo, and

8

together they formed a perfect team, totally devoted to each other. Together, they were

9

inseparable, and especially enjoyed traveling together be it frequent trips to New Hampshire, and

10

travelling every fall to Florida with her surviving siblings and their spouses, albeit by car to

11

Virginia and then the train the rest of the way because she did not like to fly. Nothing brought

12

more happiness to Mrs. Raspallo then spending time with her family; and

13

     WHEREAS, Ann Marie Raspallo was a devout Catholic and a devoted servant of the

14

Lord. She was a dedicated parishioner and communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in

15

Cranston since 1977. In her time as a parishioner, she taught First Communion classes for many

16

years, served with her husband Thomas as the married couple for weekend retreat experiences,

17

ran a parish fundraiser, and coordinated the end of year dance for numerous years. Mrs. Raspallo

18

also served as a chaperone and volunteer for Confirmation Retreat weekends for approximately

19

ten years, and was a member of the Rosary and Altar Society group for many years. Her greatest

20

accomplishment and joy came from serving as a Eucharistic Minister for 40 years; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Raspallo was an extraordinarily warm, thoughtful and generous

2

woman. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, band

3

performances, awards and graduation exercises, martial arts exhibitions and anything to do with

4

her grandchildren, relished the family’s weekly dinner get-togethers where she would amaze and

5

delight her guests with her incredible cooking abilities. She also took great pleasure in Christmas

6

shopping all year round for her children and grandchildren; and

7

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Raspallo was deeply admired by all who knew her for her kind,

8

compassionate and loving personality. Mrs. Raspallo made a positive difference in the lives of all

9

who knew and loved her and will forever live strongly in their hearts and memories; and

10

     WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, Thomas, Ann Marie Raspallo leaves behind her

11

children, Maria Ann Raspallo Brown and her husband, Deacon Scott Brown, Thomas S. Raspallo

12

and his wife, Jaclyn, the Honorable Richard D. Raspallo, Rhode Island Superior Court Judge who

13

was the long-time Chief Legal Counsel to the Rhode Island House of Representatives, and James

14

M. Raspallo and his wife, Kate, and her grandchildren, Matthew and Jacob Brown, Thomas,

15

James, Michael, Ava, Teagan, Domenic, and Annabel Raspallo, and the late Gianna Raspallo.

16

Ann Marie Raspallo was the sister of James Peters, and Maureen Raspallo, and the late David and

17

Louis Peters; now, therefore be it

18

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

19

expresses its deepest condolences to the Raspallo Family on the passing of Ann Marie Raspallo;

20

and be it further

21

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

22

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to her beloved husband, Deacon Thomas R.

23

Raspallo, and Family.
