HONORING DR. JUANA PARILLON FOR HER NEARLY FORTY YEARS OF | |
EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO OUR NATION AS BOTH A MARINE AND EQUAL | |

1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Juana Parillon is a proud Dominican-American who immigrated to the |
2 | United States at the young age of five years old. She was raised in a working- class community in |
3 | the Providence area where she was taught and mentored about the important values of hard-work |
4 | and integrity in living a meaningful and fulfilling life. She has lived her life grounded in a belief |
5 | in three core principles, that humility strengthens us, honesty connects us, and trust bonds us; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Dr. Parillon is a distinguished Marine Corps veteran who served our nation |
7 | with distinction for more than two decades in various leadership positions involving human |
8 | relations, mediation, and conflict resolution. During her Marine Corps tenure, Dr. Parillon was |
9 | one of only 37 equal opportunity advisors (EOA) in the United States Marine Corps. As an EOA, |
10 | Dr. Parillon has developed and facilitated entry, mid-level and executive-level training programs, |
11 | conducted organizational surveys and data analysis, overseen dispute resolutions and formulated |
12 | policies and procedures for various organizations; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In 2012, while serving in her position as an EOA at the Marine Corps |
14 | Logistics Command, Dr. Parillon created and founded the Mentors in Action program in Albany, |
15 | Georgia. This program allowed Marines to volunteer their time helping children in primary, |
16 | secondary, and post-secondary schools within their communities. Dr. Parillon’s innovative work |
17 | with Mentors in Action earned her the honor of receiving Albany, Georgia’s, Forty Under 40 |
18 | Award; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Dr. Jauna Parillon is a much-desired public speaker who has given several |

1 | notable keynote addresses and has served as a moderator at numerous public and private events. |
2 | Dr. Parillon also serves as a mediator and conflict resolution consultant for organizations across |
3 | the United States. She has also coached individuals, teams, and departments within the non- |
4 | profit, corporate, military, and higher education sectors of the economy. Dr. Parillon is also the |
5 | distinguished author of several published articles and is currently working on a co-authored book |
6 | and a solo project to be released in 2026; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Dr. Juana Parillon holds several degrees including a Bachelor of Science |
8 | degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College, a Master of Science |
9 | degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Walden University, a Master of |
10 | Business Administration degree from the George Washington University, and a Doctorate in |
11 | Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Walden University; now, therefore be it |
12 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
13 | honors Dr. Juana Parillon for her nearly forty years of exemplary service to our nation as both a |
14 | Marine and Equal Opportunity Advisor; and be it further |
15 | RESOLVED, that the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
16 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Dr. Juana Parillon. |
