	RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- STATE-OWNED AND
	OPERATED PRINTING FACILITIES PREFERENCE ACT

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Title 42 of the General Laws entitled "STATE AFFAIRS AND
2	GOVERNMENT" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following chapter:
3	CHAPTER 167
4	STATE-OWNED AND OPERATED PRINTING FACILITIES PREFERENCE ACT
5	42-167-1. Short title.
6	This chapter shall be known and may be cited as “State-Owned and Operated Printing
7	Facilities Preference”.
8	42-167-2. Use of state-owned/operated printing facilities.
9	Any state agency, state institution of higher education, and quasi-public agency which
10	engages in the printing of more than fifty (50) copies of a contract, publication, brochure, mail
11	piece, notice, and/or promotional material shall use an existing state-owned/operated print
12	shop/facility as long as said state-owned/operated print shop/facility is capable of processing and
13	manufacturing the aforementioned materials.
14	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

	BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

	A N A C T
	RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- STATE-OWNED AND
	OPERATED PRINTING FACILITIES PREFERENCE ACT

1	This act would require, that any state agency, state institution of higher education, and
2	quasi-public agency that engages in printing more than fifty (50) copies of a contract, publication,
3	brochure, notice, or promotional material, to use a state-owned or operated print shop capable of
4	processing the material.
5	This act would take effect upon passage.
