H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF RALPH P. FARGNOLI, SR.

Chippendale, Kennedy, Fogarty, Kislak, and Serpa

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Mr.

Ralph P. Fargnoli, Sr., the devoted husband of Phyllis A. Fargnoli for 70 years; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Fargnoli was born in Providence, a son of Joseph Fargnoli and Maria

Fargnoli. Mr. Fargnoli was a patriot who deeply loved his country. He served our nation with

distinction as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War era. He achieved the

rank of Sergeant and served with the prestigious 3rd Infantry Regiment, “The Old Guard”, which

was stationed in Washington, D.C. He also served in the 152nd Air National Guard for two years;

and

     WHEREAS, Ralph Fargnoli was also a hard-working family man who strove daily to

provide for his loved ones. Mr. Fargnoli was a devoted public servant who worked for the United

States Post Office and provided exemplary service to the American public for 32 years, serving

the latter two years in management positions at the divisional and regional levels; and

     WHEREAS, Ralph Fargnoli also served the Rhode Island public and the Rhode Island

House of Representatives with distinction as a doorkeeper from 1994 to 2016, and is well-

remembered by all he served with for his excellent service, his warmth and compassion for

everyone he interacted with, and his wonderful sense of humor. He brought a smile to the faces of

all who interacted with him; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife Phyllis, Ralph Fargnoli leaves behind his children,

Joseph P. Fargnoli, Sr., and his wife, Patricia, Ralph P. Fargnoli, Jr., and his wife, Judith, and

Mary Elizabeth Leone and her husband, Marc. Mr. Fargnoli also leaves behind his ten

grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Mr. Ralph P. Fargnoli, Sr., and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Phyllis A. Fargnoli and Family.
