EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of the |
2 | Honorable Raymond H. Beretta, the beloved husband of Joan for sixty-four years, and the proud |
3 | father of Raymond Jr., William, Amy, and Michael; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Born and raised in the City of Pawtucket, Mr. Beretta was a graduate of |
5 | Pawtucket West High School, and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Providence College and his |
6 | Master’s in Education from Rhode Island College; and |
7 | WHEREAS, For many years, Mr. Beretta was a school teacher with the Pawtucket |
8 | School Department until joining the family business, where he managed the Durastone/Flexicore |
9 | plant in Smithfield for twenty-one years. Ultimately, he returned to teaching, serving as the |
10 | Principal of Potter Burns Elementary until his retirement in 2000; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community, in 1973, Mr. Beretta successfully ran for a seat |
12 | on the Pawtucket City Council. He had also been a member of the Knights of Columbus and the |
13 | Sons of Italy. He enjoyed spending leisure time golfing and boating, but the first and primary |
14 | love in his life was always his family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren and |
15 | great grandchildren; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Raymond Beretta was a devoted family man, a great boss, a loyal friend, |
17 | and a consummate professional who had an innate ability to relate to people, staff, parents, and |
18 | especially students. He always approached life with a welcoming smile and a genuinely cheerful |
19 | nature, and he is deeply missed; now, therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
2 | extends deepest sympathy and condolences on the passing of the Honorable Raymond H. Beretta; |
3 | and be it further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Joan Beretta and Family. |
