EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ELENA MARIE | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Elena Marie |
2 | Ciccone, the devoted wife of Senator Frank A. Ciccone, III, and treasured mother of Carla, her |
3 | love and joy, and Carla’s husband, John Rose, with whom she enjoyed a great friendship and |
4 | loved to spend time, texts, and attending Red Sox games; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Born in the City of Providence, Mrs. Ciccone was a daughter of the late |
6 | Frank and Anna Bassi, the sister of Maria Lauro, and the late Frederick Bassi and William Bassi, |
7 | and the loving aunt to many nieces and one nephew; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Ciccone began working as a hairdresser at Caprice Beauty Salon after |
9 | attending Angelo’s Hair Design. Her hairdressing talents were soon bestowed on her mother, |
10 | mother-in-law and aunts, as she was always at the ready to dispense a hair trim or an updo for any |
11 | occasion. She subsequently attended Johnson & Wales and worked at Laurel Hill Avenue School |
12 | before joining the City of Providence Parks Department, where she worked for twenty-five years |
13 | and was a union member of LiUNA Local 1033; and |
14 | WHEREAS, In addition to making a warm and welcoming home for her family and |
15 | many friends, Mrs. Ciccone was active in many organizations including as a member of The |
16 | Italo-American Club, Piave Lodge #364 Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy, and Cranston Post |
17 | 8 Italian-American War Veterans Womens’ Auxiliary. She was also deeply committed to her |
18 | faith and a devoted parishioner at Saint Bartholomew Church; and |
19 | WHEREAS, With an infectious personality, Mrs. Ciccone loved to go out for a nice |

1 | dinner or to watch a basketball game with her friends, aptly named “the crew”. She also had a soft |
2 | spot for canines, especially rescue dogs, which she often discussed with her daughter. She was |
3 | always eager to meet a new one, and was the loving caretaker to all of the family’s dogs, |
4 | including the family’s Rottweiler, Molly, and the recently passed, Rocco; and |
5 | WHEREAS, A women with lavish élan, “a passion for accessorizing” and shopping, and |
6 | a talent for finding the perfect gift for those she loved, Mrs. Ciccone’s spitfire personality lit any |
7 | room and filled the lives of those around her with exuberance and entertainment. She had a “heart |
8 | of gold” and abundant generosity which she happily bestowed on her family and many friends |
9 | and she is deeply and dearly missed by all; now, therefore be it |
10 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends deepest |
11 | sympathy to the bereaved family and friends of Elena Marie Ciccone; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Frank A. Ciccone, III, and |
14 | Family. |
