J O I N T R E S O L U T I O N | |
TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE | |
STATE AT THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION IN 2024: "SHALL THERE BE A | |
CONVENTION TO AMEND OR REVISE THE CONSTITUTION?" | |

1 | RESOLVED, That a majority of all members elected to each house of the general |
2 | assembly voting therefor, that pursuant to the terms of Section 2 of Article XIV of the Rhode |
3 | Island Constitution, the following question shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the state |
4 | at the next general election in 2024: |
5 | "Shall there be a convention to amend or revise the Constitution?" |
6 | RESOLVED, That said proposition of a question shall be submitted to the electors for |
7 | their approval or rejection at the next statewide general election. The voting places in the several |
8 | cities and towns shall be kept open during the hours required by law for voting therein for general |
9 | officers of the state; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the secretary of state shall cause the said proposition of a question to |
11 | be published as a part of this resolution in the newspapers of the state prior to the date of the said |
12 | meetings of the said electors; and the said proposition of a question shall be inserted in the |
13 | warrants or notices to be issued previous to said meetings of the electors for the purpose of |
14 | warning the town, ward, or district meetings, and said proposition of a question shall be read by |
15 | the town, ward, or district meetings to be held as aforesaid; and be it further |
16 | RESOLVED, That the town, ward, and district meetings to be held aforesaid shall be |
17 | warned, and the list of voters shall be canvassed and made up, and the said town, ward, and |
18 | district meetings shall be conducted in the same manner as now provided by law for the town, |
