EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF RONALD R. CHAMPAGNE | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Ronald |
2 | R. Champagne, the beloved husband of Sally Champagne for 43 years; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Ronald was born in Woonsocket and raised in Cumberland, the son of the |
4 | late Roland and Lillian Champagne. He was a graduate of Salve Regina University; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mr. Champagne was a dedicated public employee who served with |
6 | distinction and integrity as a member the Cumberland Police Department for 22 years; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Prior to moving to Florida, Mr. Champagne was very active in various |
8 | Rhode Island civic affairs. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of |
9 | Elks, and also served as a Trustee in the Woonsocket Lodge, #850. He also served as a |
10 | Commissioner for the Cumberland Hill Fire District for many years and was an elected member |
11 | of the Board when the Town of Cumberland Fire Department was established; and |
12 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Sally, Ronald Champagne is survived by his |
13 | godchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews; now, therefore be it |
14 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its |
15 | condolences on the passing of Ronald R. Champagne; and be it further |
16 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
17 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Sally Champagne. |
