S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF RONALD R. CHAMPAGNE

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Ronald

R. Champagne, the beloved husband of Sally Champagne for 43 years; and

     WHEREAS, Ronald was born in Woonsocket and raised in Cumberland, the son of the

late Roland and Lillian Champagne. He was a graduate of Salve Regina University; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Champagne was a dedicated public employee who served with

distinction and integrity as a member the Cumberland Police Department for 22 years; and

     WHEREAS, Prior to moving to Florida, Mr. Champagne was very active in various

Rhode Island civic affairs. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of

Elks, and also served as a Trustee in the Woonsocket Lodge, #850. He also served as a

Commissioner for the Cumberland Hill Fire District for many years and was an elected member

of the Board when the Town of Cumberland Fire Department was established; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Sally, Ronald Champagne is survived by his

godchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its

condolences on the passing of Ronald R. Champagne; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Sally Champagne.
