S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF GLEN D. BIDDISCOMBE, SR.

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Glen D.

2

Biddiscombe, Sr., of Burrillville. He was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, the son of Elinor

3

Biddiscombe and the late Francis Biddiscombe, and the beloved husband of Debra Biddiscombe;

4

and

5

     WHEREAS, Glen Biddiscombe was a devoted public servant who worked tirelessly

6

throughout his life to provide for his family and loved ones, and to serve and protect the public as

7

a public safety and first responder professional; and

8

     WHEREAS, As a teenager in Somerville, Mr. Biddiscombe volunteered his time

9

assisting public safety agencies. He eventually became a firefighter with the Harrisville Fire

10

Department, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant and as the Officer of Engine 21. In addition, he

11

taught EMT classes at the Rhode Island State Fire Academy; and

12

     WHEREAS, Glen Biddiscombe later worked as a dispatcher for the Burrillville Police

13

Department and became the Director of the Burrillville Emergency Management Agency in 2012.

14

In recognition of his exemplary public service career, he was awarded the Rhode Island

15

Lifesaving Medal Award in 2013. He was also a member of Teamsters Local 251; and

16

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Debra, and mother, Elinor, Mr. Biddiscombe leaves

17

behind his children, Chris Westhaver, Glen Biddiscombe, Jr., Kerri Keene, and Nathan Keene. He

18

also leaves behind his siblings, Brian Biddiscombe, Susan Biddiscombe, and Sharon Phillips, as

19

well as five grandchildren; now, therefore be it

20

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its

condolences on the passing of Glen D. Biddiscombe, Sr.; and be it further

2

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

3

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Debra Biddiscombe and Family.
