EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ARTHUR M. PLITT | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Arthur |
2 | M. Plitt of Pawtucket. He was the beloved husband of Miriam Plitt for sixty years; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Arthur Plitt was raised in Spring Valley, New York, the son of the late |
4 | George and Rose Plitt. He lived in New York for the early portion of his life before moving to |
5 | Rhode Island more than fifty years ago; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Mr. Plitt graduated from St. Lawrence University with a Bachelor’s of |
7 | Science degree, and later attained a Master’s degree in Business from Columbia University. |
8 | While in College, he completed an internship at AISEC in Norway; and |
9 | WHEREAS, After completing his education goals, Mr. Plitt proceeded to embark on |
10 | what would become a very successful business career. He served as a financial advisor and |
11 | insurance agent at Plitt Financial Associates LTD., and was a skilled and renowned Reiki Master |
12 | for numerous years; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Mr. Plitt was widely respected by his peers and colleagues for his tireless |
14 | work ethic, business acumen and abiding integrity. In recognition of these attributes, he was |
15 | named the Providence Chamber of Commerce’s Man of the Month, served as President of the JCI |
16 | Senate, served on the Governor’s Commission on Disabilities, Chaired the Friends of the |
17 | Pawtucket Public Library, and was an important member and key contributor to numerous other |
18 | civic and charitable organizations such as the Rhode Island Cancer Partnership, Pawtucket |
19 | Cancer and Prevention Coalition, Pawtucket Pension Board and Pawtucket Wellness Committee, |
20 | and received countless awards in recognition of his service to these organizations; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Arthur Plitt was a man of deep faith who was a longtime member of Temple |
2 | Emanu El in Providence. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, coin collecting, gardening, and |
3 | most of all, spending time with his family, which he always put first in his life; and |
4 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Miriam, Mr. Plitt leaves behind his sons, Hugh Plitt |
5 | and his wife, Jessica, and Seth Plitt and his wife, Robin. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, |
6 | Elianna, Gabriel, Jacob, Joshua, Ethan, and Rebecca Plitt, two sisters, Arlene Kossoff and her |
7 | husband, Dick, and Jane Plitt and her husband, Jim Bruen. He is also survived by many nieces, |
8 | nephews, several cousins, and many close friends; now, therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses condolences |
10 | on the passing of Arthur M. Plitt; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Miriam Plitt and Family. |
