TEAM ON WINNING THE 2024 RHODE ISLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM DIVISION | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Shea/Tolman Girls Varsity Co-op Basketball Team had an outstanding |
2 | regular season, compiling a sterling 16-2 divisional record and earning a second seed in the |
3 | Division II Girls State Basketball Tournament; and |
4 | WHEREAS, In the Rhode Island State Championship Tournament, Shea/Tolman played |
5 | an almost perfect game as they defeated Cumberland in the first round by a score of 57-37. In the |
6 | semi-final round, Shea/Tolman once again dominated their opposition, beating Chariho by the |
7 | score of 58-40 to earn a spot in the Division II Championship game; and |
8 | WHEREAS, In a thrilling championship game, that will be long remembered by all who |
9 | witnessed the game, the Shea/Tolman Girls Co-op Basketball Team emerged victorious over |
10 | Moses Brown in a tense and hard-fought double overtime game. With Armani Rivera making |
11 | clutch free throws and Aryana Blanco hitting key shots from distance, the Shea/Tolman Girls Co- |
12 | op Basketball Team made history by winning one of the greatest high school basketball games in |
13 | Rhode Island Interscholastic League history; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Winning a State Title in a team sport is an incredibly difficult achievement |
15 | to accomplish. It requires that every member of the team put in the maximum effort at all times |
16 | and always place team goals and needs ahead of individual desires and aspirations. The 2024 |
17 | Shea/Tolman Girls Varsity Co-op Basketball Team has these essential qualities in abundance as |
18 | they were led all season by the outstanding play provided by Janae Ashton, Kayliana E. Blair, |
19 | Kasyra Fernandes, Tiyara Gonzalez, Bendu Kamara, Alexandra A. Larios, Asiannei Rodrigues, |

2 | Teemer. The Shea/Tolman squad was also blessed to be led all season by the outstanding |
3 | coaching and leadership provided by Head Coaches John Lickert and Walter Gonzalez, and |
4 | Assistant Coach Andrew Maigret; now, therefore be it |
5 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby heartily congratulates |
6 | the Shea/Tolman Girls Varsity Co-op Basketball Team on winning the 2024 Rhode Island Girls |
7 | Basketball Division II State Championship; and be it further |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
9 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Shea/Tolman Girls Varsity Co-op Basketball |
