RELATING TO FISH AND WILDLIFE -- LOBSTERS AND OTHER CRUSTACEANS

     

     Introduced By: Senators LaMountain, and Euer

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 20-7-15 of the General Laws in Chapter 20-7 entitled "Lobsters and

Other Crustaceans" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     20-7-15. Methods of taking blue crabs — Nonresidents. Taking of blue crabs.

     Unless otherwise specified by regulation, no person shall take, or attempt to take, any blue

5

crabs from any of the waters in this state except by a scoop or crab net, trot, or land hand line.

Taking of blue crabs shall be restricted to residents of this state. No person shall take blue crabs

7

from the waters of the state between the hours of sunset and sunrise.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

RELATING TO FISH AND WILDLIFE -- LOBSTERS AND OTHER CRUSTACEANS

     This act would amend the current law to allow for the harvesting of blue crabs during hours

2

of darkness. It would also clarify the title and change the incorrect terms of "land line" to the correct

3

"hand line".

4

     This act would take effect upon passage.
