EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY ON THE UNTIMELY PASSING OF BENJAMIN M. | |

1 | WHEREAS, There is an illusion that youth equals strength and invincibility, and filled |
2 | with the promise of bright tomorrows and soon to be climbed summits. When that myth is |
3 | shattered, it leaves a void in the foundation of our beliefs, and a sorrow that is almost impossible |
4 | to grasp, and so it is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the tragic passing of |
5 | Benjamin Kellogg; and |
6 | WHEREAS, The beautiful son of Michaela and Matthew Kellogg, Ben, together with his |
7 | two younger brothers, Samuel and William, and his mom and dad, lived in Hopedale, |
8 | Massachusetts. He was in the 3rd grade at Hopedale Memorial School, where he loved and |
9 | already excelled at math; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Ben was an active and bright child, who enjoyed myriad sports, including |
11 | flag football and basketball in the town's recreation programs. He was also learning to play golf, |
12 | and excitedly looking forward to the spring Little League Baseball season, where he was hoping |
13 | to be a prominent pitcher for this summer's Tondorf 9U All-Star team; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Always on the move, Ben also enjoyed roller coasters, building amazing |
15 | Legos structures, "Star Wars," Pokémon, Nintendo Switch Sports, and Minecraft, and was |
16 | amazingly astute at playing Monopoly. He also adored listening to music, especially his favorite |
17 | band, Imagine Dragons, and loved to play Super Mario Brothers Wonder, and other video games, |
18 | with his brother Sam; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Blessed with a large and loving extended family, Ben was the beloved |

1 | grandson of Robert and Katherine Kellogg, and Thomas and Carol Ward, and the nephew of Sean |
2 | and Jennifer Cronin, Stephen and Katelyn McMorrow, Connor and Kristen Kane, and Steven |
3 | Ward and Jenna Ross; and |
4 | WHEREAS, The most fitting tribute to Ben Kellogg is a celebration of his life, a life in |
5 | which each and every day was joyfully embraced and filled with fun and amity. He was |
6 | fortunate to have always enjoyed the total love of his family, and in return he enriched the lives of |
7 | all around him and he will be deeply missed but always dearly remembered; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses heartfelt |
9 | condolences on the passing of Benjamin M. Kellogg; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Michaela and Matthew Kellogg, Robert and |
12 | Katherine Kellogg, and Thomas and Carol Ward. |
