It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:  | |
1  | SECTION 1. Chapter 42-7.2 of the General Laws entitled "Office of Health and Human  | 
2  | Services" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:  | 
3  | 42-7.2-20.9. ABLE account program information.  | 
4  | Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, a school district shall provide informational  | 
5  | material about the achieving a better life experience (ABLE) account program established under ยง  | 
6  | 42-7.2-20.3 to the parent or guardian of any student with an individualized education program (IEP)  | 
7  | at the student's annual IEP review meeting, whether held in person, held remotely, or held in any  | 
8  | other manner. The office of the general treasurer shall prepare the informational material and  | 
9  | deliver the informational material to the Rhode Island department of education who shall distribute  | 
10  | the informational material to school districts.  | 
11  | A school may transmit the informational material to a parent or guardian in the same  | 
12  | manner as other documents or information related to an annual IEP review meeting are provided to  | 
13  | the parent or guardian.  | 
14  | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.  |
