S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JAMES N. BRASSARD,

LIEUTENANT, WARWICK FIRE DEPARTMENT, (RETIRED)

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of James

2

N. Brassard, a retired Lieutenant with the Warwick Fire Department. He was the beloved husband

3

of Susan Brassard; and

4

     WHEREAS, James Brassard was born a son of the late Norman and Dorothy Brassard.

5

He graduated from Warwick Vets high school in 1967, and proceeded to serve the people of

6

Warwick with distinction and integrity as a hardworking member of the Warwick Fire

7

Department, retiring in 2000 with the rank of Lieutenant; and

8

     WHEREAS, In his free time, Mr. Brassard loved cars, boats and motorcycles and was

9

seemingly on the move at all times. He particularly enjoyed spending his summers in the water,

10

be it at the beach or in a pool. He also enjoyed games of chance and get togethers with family and

11

friends; and

12

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Susan, Mr. Brassard leaves behind his daughters

13

Michelle Bressler and her husband, Gregory, and Jessica Brassard. He was the father of the late

14

Melissa Anne Brassard and Jillian Marie Brassard, and considered Rachel Batz, wife of Anthony

15

Kenner, and her daughter Skylar Batz, to be among his daughters and grandchildren. He also

16

leaves behind his grandchildren, Whitman, Julian, and Susanna Bressler, and Jesse James

17

Brassard, and was the brother of Stephen Brassard, Michael Brassard, and the late Robert

18

Brassard; and

19

     WHEREAS, James Brassard was a devoted family man who always put his loved ones

first in his life. He was a shining light whose beacon burned brightly and the memory of his well-

2

lived life will last forever within the hearts of his family and his many friends; now, therefore be

3

it

4

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its

5

condolences on the passing of James N. Brassard; and be it further

6

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

7

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Susan Brassard and Family.
