RELATING TO INSURANCE -- ACCIDENT AND SICKNESS INSURANCE POLICIES | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 27-18 of the General Laws entitled "Accident and Sickness Insurance |
2 | Policies" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 27-18-95. Dependent health insurance protection. |
4 | For the purpose of eligibility of group health insurance coverage, any dependent of an |
5 | employee who is eligible for employer sponsored medical health insurance coverage shall be |
6 | eligible to maintain such coverage, in the event said employee wishes to change their individual |
7 | health coverage to Medicare or is currently on Medicare. |
8 | SECTION 2. Chapter 27-19 of the General Laws entitled "Nonprofit Hospital Service |
9 | Corporations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
10 | 27-19-87. Dependent health insurance protection. |
11 | For the purpose of eligibility of group health insurance coverage, any dependent of an |
12 | employee who is eligible for employer sponsored medical health insurance coverage shall be |
13 | eligible to maintain such coverage, in the event said employee wishes to change their individual |
14 | health coverage to Medicare or is currently on Medicare. |
15 | SECTION 3. Chapter 27-20 of the General Laws entitled "Nonprofit Medical Service |
16 | Corporations" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
17 | 27-20-83. Dependent health insurance protection. |
18 | For the purpose of eligibility of group health insurance coverage, any dependent of an |
19 | employee who is eligible for employer sponsored medical health insurance coverage shall be |

3 | SECTION 4. Chapter 27-41 of the General Laws entitled "Health Maintenance |

5 | 27-41-100. Dependent health insurance protection. |
6 | For the purpose of eligibility of group health insurance coverage, any dependent of an |
7 | employee who is eligible for employer sponsored medical health insurance coverage shall be |
8 | eligible to maintain such coverage, in the event said employee wishes to change their individual |
9 | health coverage to Medicare or is currently on Medicare. |
10 | SECTION 5. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
