S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE

FRANK LOMBARDO, III

     WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness and regret that this Senate has learned of the

2

passing of our friend and colleague, the Honorable Frank Lombardo, an esteemed member of the

3

Rhode Island Senate, and the beloved husband of Patricia Lombardo; and

4

     WHEREAS, Frank Lombardo was born in the City of Providence, the son of Frank

5

Lombardo, Jr. and the late Theresa Lombardo, and the brother of Robert Lombardo and David

6

Lombardo; and

7

     WHEREAS, Even as a young man, Senator Lombardo demonstrated the kind of leader he

8

would become. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout from BSA Troop 4, in Greenville, and would

9

later serve as a Camp Counselor at Yawgoog Boy Scout Camp. He was also a wrestler during his

10

years at Smithfield High School and would later become a coach of the Johnston High School and

11

LaSalle wrestling teams, and was also a coach for the Smithfield and Johnston Little Leagues;

12

and

13

     WHEREAS, A successful businessman, Frank had attended Rhode Island College and

14

was a RSES Graduate of Refrigeration and Service & Engineering Society. He was the President

15

of Lombardo and Son, Inc. in Providence, and was dedicated to his profession, serving as a

16

member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, the Rhode Island Builders, and the

17

Refrigeration Service and Engineering Society; and

18

     WHEREAS, On November 2, 2010, the Honorable Frank Lombardo was elected to the

19

Rhode Island Senate in District 25, representing his constituency in the Town of Johnston until

his passing. During his tenure at the State House, he served as Chair of Senate Housing and

2

Municipal Government, and was a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, Labor

3

Committee, Rules Committee, and the Ethics and Oversight Committees. He was a deeply

4

admired and respected member of the Senate who “embodied the spirit of collegiality and service

5

to which every member of the Senate aspires” and was a dedicated and passionate champion of

6

the business community; and

7

     WHEREAS, Above all else in his life, Frank Lombardo loved and cherished his family.

8

In addition to his wife and dad, he was the very proud father of Frank Lombardo, IV and his wife,

9

Ashley, and Victoria Aceto and her husband, Anthony, and the cherished grandfather of Landon

10

and Liella Lombardo; and

11

     WHEREAS, Senator Lombardo was also a man “full of energy and adventure” who lived

12

“every moment of life to the fullest.” His adventurous streak included cross country motorcycle

13

trips as well as helicopter and snow skiing. He embraced the memories made during cross-

14

country motorcycle adventures with his father, watching his grandson tear down the slopes, and

15

ensuring his own skiing companions knew how much faster than them he was at completing the

16

trails; and

17

     WHEREAS, A generous and kind gentleman, beloved family man, a man of faith and a

18

devoted community leader, the Honorable Frank Lombardo’s life was filled with good deeds, a

19

magnanimous spirit and omnipresent good humor, he represented all that is best in this State and

20

he will be dearly missed; and be it further

21

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends its deepest

22

condolences and sympathy on the passing of the Honorable Frank Lombardo, III; and be it further

23

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

24

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Patricia Lombardo and Family, and Frank

25

Lombardo, Jr.
