EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF DIAN K. REYNOLDS | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Dian K. |
2 | Reynolds, the beloved mother of Adam Miller, Joshua Miller and his wife, Nancy Miller, and the |
3 | late Samuel Miller and Zachary Miller. She was also blessed with three grandchildren, Nick, |
4 | Owen, and Alex Miller and his wife, Theresa; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Reynolds was born Dian Kaufman, and was raised in New York City. |
6 | She was a graduate of Bard College and NYU and received a degree in library sciences from the |
7 | University of Rhode Island. She was the sister of Amy Goot and Sandra Serebin, and was married |
8 | to the late Daniel Miller, with whom she had her four sons, and was later married to Edwin |
9 | Reynolds until his passing. She is also survived by Samuel Miller's widow, Anne Boardman- |
10 | Miller; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Reynolds spent much of her life in Wellfleet where she was a beloved |
12 | member of the cultural community. For many years, she had served as a Trustee of the Wellfleet |
13 | Public Library, and was a generous supporter of the Wellfleet Conservation Trust, The Truro |
14 | Center for the Arts at Castle Hill, the Fine Arts Work Center, the Provincetown Dance Festival, |
15 | as well as the Providence Athenaeum. She had also organized numerous events for the library and |
16 | held a group to learn ancient Greek and translate the works of Homer at her home; and |
17 | WHEREAS, In addition, Mrs. Reynolds was a charter member of the renowned Trinity |
18 | Square Repertory Company, and became a writer and producer at WGBH TV, and a producer of |
19 | media content for the Digital Equipment Company. She was an avid art lover and collector, had |
20 | enjoyed kayaking and swimming well into her 80s, read at least a book a day for most of her life, |

1 | and endeavored to see every movie, play, ballet, museum, opera and concert that she could; and |
2 | WHEREAS, The most fitting tribute to Dian Reynolds is a celebration of her life, a life in |
3 | which each and every day was lived fully and joyfully embraced. She was fortunate to have |
4 | always enjoyed the total love and support of her family, her friends, and her community, and in |
5 | return she enriched the lives of all around her, and she is dearly missed; now, therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends its deepest |
7 | sympathy and condolences on the passing Dian K. Reynolds; and be it further |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
9 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Adam Miller and Joshua Miller. |
