EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF GAIL E. BOOTLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Gail |
2 | Elizabeth Tancrell, the beloved mother of Gregory Tancrell and his wife, Deborah, and Timothy |
3 | Tancrell and his partner, Paul Scalabroni. She was also blessed with two grandsons, Gabriel and |
4 | Ian Tancrell; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Born in the City of Woonsocket, Ms. Tancrell was the daughter of the late |
6 | George and Stella Bootland, and the sister of Glenn Bootland, Nancy Calascibetta, and the late |
7 | Scott Bootland. She was also an aunt to many nieces and nephews; and |
8 | WHEREAS, In addition to her family, Ms. Tancrell leaves behind “the world's largest |
9 | collection of crafts and knick-knacks that unfortunately could not be certified by Guiness before |
10 | her cremation.” In her honor, many arts and craft fairs around New England will hold a moment |
11 | of silence and flags will be lowered at the beginning of the 2024 fall events; and |
12 | WHEREAS, An inimitable individual, Ms. Tancrell maintained a love and dedication to |
13 | doing things a particular and often old-fashioned way, which over the years became somewhat |
14 | legendary. While she had incorporated a television into her daily life, it had not been updated to |
15 | the latest technology for decades: and |
16 | WHEREAS, While Ms. Tancrell did have the need to utilize personal transportation, her |
17 | decision to not travel in inclement weather of any sort resulted in her automobile only averaging a |
18 | mere 3000 miles a year, although its maintenance was performed with unremitting regularity; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Gail Trancell was a quirky, memorable and beloved lady who will be dearly |

1 | missed and fondly remembered by all who were a part of her wonderful life; now, therefore be it |
2 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends deepest |
3 | condolences on the passing of Gail E. Bootland Tancrell; and be it further |
4 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
5 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Gregory Tancrell and Family, and Timothy |
6 | Tancrell and Family. |
