EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF VINCENT A. SPREMULLI | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Vincent |
2 | A. Spremulli of East Providence. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Spremulli; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Vincent Spremulli was born in Providence, the son of the late Salvatore and |
4 | Mary Spremulli. He graduated from East Providence High school in 1964, and proceeded to |
5 | attain a Bachelor's degree from Providence College in 1968; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Shortly after graduating from college, Mr. Spremulli became a Special |
7 | Education Teacher for the City of East Providence at Ponagansett Middle School, a position he |
8 | held for 35 years. He was a kind and caring teacher who worked tirelessly to make a positive |
9 | difference in the lives of all of his students, and their parents and families. He was also a |
10 | passionate advocate in support of the special needs community; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Vincent Spremulli was very active his entire life in support of numerous |
12 | charitable and civic endeavors within the East Providence community. He coached middle and |
13 | high school basketball, was a long-time coach and director of the East Providence Central Little |
14 | League, and Saint Martha's CYO Basketball. He also served for many years as the Assistant |
15 | Director at Camp Ruggles, a camp for children with emotional and behavioral needs. Known as |
16 | "Coach Vin", Mr. Spremulli served as a mentor to countless youngsters, teaching them how to |
17 | compete and do their best, while also building up their character and instilling in them the value |
18 | of sportsmanship; and |
19 | WHEREAS, The first priority in Vincent Spremulli's life was always his family, which |
20 | he cherished. In addition to his wife, Margaret, he leaves behind his children, Dr. Sandra Forand, |

1 | the East Providence School Superintendent, and her husband, Roger, and Michael Spremulli, a |
2 | Detective Corporal with the East Providence Police Department, and his wife, Katalin, and three |
3 | grandchildren, Derek Forand, a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, Allison Charleson, |
4 | and her husband, Christian, and Jacob Spremulli. He is also survived by his siblings, David |
5 | Spremulli and Linda Mclaughlin; now, therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its |
7 | condolences on the passing of Vincent A. Spremulli; and be it further |
8 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
9 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Margaret Spremulli and Family. |
