HONORING BRIAN REA FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE | |
STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Brian Rea was elected to the Rhode Island House of |
2 | Representatives in November of 2022, to serve the citizenry of Smithfield and Glocester in |
3 | District 53; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Over the past two years, Representative Rea has been a member of the |
5 | House Education Committee, the House Finance Committee, and the House Small Business |
6 | Committee; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Representative Rea is a graduate of Johnston High school and continued his |
8 | studies at the Community College of Rhode Island. He began his public service as the Facilities |
9 | Director for a Rhode Island State Charter Corporation and currently owns a convenience store |
10 | and restaurant in Glocester; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Dedicated to his constituency in District 53, Representative Rea has |
12 | introduced and supported legislation that would create an affordable housing business tax credit |
13 | as well as eliminate sale tax on any materials purchased for use in the renovation of affordable |
14 | rental housing, establish a first time home buyer savings program fund for first time home buyers, |
15 | initiate an annual increase of the net taxable estate exemption until the state exemption equals the |
16 | federal exemption, and phase out the local meals and beverage tax, to name but a few; and |
17 | WHEREAS, Representative Rea is also active in his community, most recently serving as |
18 | Chair of the Smithfield Republican Town Committee, and working with the Conservation Law |
19 | Foundation of Washington D.C., to spearhead community efforts focusing on protecting the |

2 | WHEREAS, In addition to his businesses and long hours at the State House, |
3 | Representative Rea makes his home in Smithfield with his wife of 22 years, Michelle, and his |
4 | children, Kevin, Breanna, and Giovanni, and is also the proud grandfather of one grandson, Noah; |
5 | and |
6 | WHEREAS, Representative Brian Rea has improved the lives of many people through |
7 | his diligent efforts on behalf of his constituency and the citizens of this state, and he will be |
8 | greatly missed in the House Chamber; now, therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
10 | honors Representative Brian Rea as he concludes his service in the Rhode Island House of |
11 | Representatives. We thank him for a job well done, and extend our sincere wishes for his |
12 | continued health, happiness, and success; and be it further |
13 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
14 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Brian Rea. |
