EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LOUIS M. PULNER, ESQ. | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Louis |
2 | M. Pulner, Esq.; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Louis Pulner was born in Providence, the son of Norma Ryan and Sidney |
4 | Pulner. He graduated from Classical High School and Providence College before attending |
5 | Suffolk University Law School, where he received his Juris Doctor; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Mr. Pulner, an accomplished attorney and litigator, began his distinguished |
7 | legal career when he accepted the position of Special Assistant Attorney General in the Rhode |
8 | Island Attorney General’s Office. He immediately became well known and highly regarded for |
9 | the legal acumen and tenacity he exhibited prosecuting drunk drivers as part of the Rhode Island |
10 | State campaign to crackdown on drunk driving, titled “In Rhode Island, Drunk Drivers Get |
11 | Court”; and |
12 | WHEREAS, After serving under two Rhode Island Attorney Generals with distinction |
13 | and integrity, Mr. Pulner joined the law firm of Lipsey and Skolnick. He practiced law in the |
14 | areas of divorce and family law for two years before starting his own successful law firm, with a |
15 | concentration in divorce, family law, custody, adoption, personal injury and criminal law; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Mr. Pulner was a compassionate and giving man who donated much of his |
17 | valuable time doing pro bono work on behalf of the less fortunate, especially families and |
18 | children. In recognition of this outstanding service, he received numerous honors and awards |
19 | from the Rhode Island Bar Association; and |
20 | WHEREAS, Mr. Pulner also served with distinction as the Solicitor for the Town of |

1 | Barrington for 35 years, and was an esteemed legal analyst for many years on various Rhode |
2 | Island radio and television programs, including PBS’s A Lively Experiment; and |
3 | WHEREAS, In his free time, Louis Pulner was an avid sports fan who religiously |
4 | followed his beloved Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics. He especially enjoyed spending quality time |
5 | with family and friends while dining on good food, and loved attending comedy shows to see the |
6 | newest stand-up comics. A Sunday never really began for him until he started the New York |
7 | Times Sunday Crossword; and |
8 | WHEREAS, In addition to his mother, Norma, Mr. Pulner is survived by his children |
9 | Stephanie Pulner and Andrew Pulner and his wife, Lauren, as well as his grandchildren, Jonathan |
10 | and Madeleine Pulner. He also leaves behind his sister, Pamela Pulner, niece Alexa Auerbach, |
11 | and his chosen family, Stacey and Eugene Mihaly; now, therefore be it |
12 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
13 | expresses condolences on the passing of Louis M. Pulner, Esq. May his memory be a blessing for |
14 | all who knew and loved him; and be it further |
15 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
16 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Norma Ryan, Stephanie Pulner, Andrew Pulner |
17 | and Pamela Pulner. |
