H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CELEBRATING AND THANKING THOMAS DAMBO FOR BRINGING HIS ARTISTIC

TALENTS AND WORLD-RENOWNED GIANT TROLLS FOR THE ENJOYMENT OF ALL

RHODE ISLANDERS

     WHEREAS, Renowned Danish artist, Thomas Dambo is on a mission to “Waste No

More” and in May of 2024, his noble pursuit and creative vision is bringing joy and whimsy to

the delight of all Rhode Islanders with the installation of a pair of gentle giants; and

     WHEREAS, Two beautiful giant Trolls, made of recycled and reclaimed wood, will be

unveiled at their new home in Ninigret Park in Charlestown with the hope that they will be the

beginning of a troll trail across the State; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Dambo is the world’s leading recycle artist, with his creations exhibited

in more than 20 countries on 5 continents, including the USA, China, Brazil, Australia, Great

Britain, Germany, France, South Korea, Chile, and Puerto Rico. Currently, there are 125 Trolls in

the world, with 44 of them residing in the United States, but his ultimate desire is to build 1,000

Trolls using recycled material from all over the world. He has also built more than 7,000

birdhouses across the globe; and

     WHEREAS, The South County Tourism Council sponsored Mr. Dambo’s unique Trolls

with the goal of attracting more visitors and adding an additional economic driver to Rhode

Island. The Council is a nonprofit organization “dedicated to promoting the towns of

Charlestown, Coventry, East Greenwich, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, North Kingstown,

Richmond, South Kingstown, West Greenwich and Westerly as a single leisure travel destination

known as ‘South County’”; and

     WHEREAS, It is vital to recognize the important relationship between the arts and our

quality of life, and that the arts and a thriving state economy is an essential element in humanity’s

vast effort to develop, expand, and preserve this world for future generations; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

celebrates and thanks Thomas Dambo for bringing his artistic talents and world-renowned giant

Trolls for the enjoyment of all Rhode Islanders. We moreover wish him good health, much

happiness, and continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Thomas Dambo, and Faye Pantazopoulos,

Creative Director South County Tourism Council.
