H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF WALTER R. BIENIEKI

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Walter

R. Bienieki of Putnam, Connecticut, and Chepachet. He was the beloved husband of the late

Theresa Bienieki for fifty-seven years; and

     WHEREAS, A true patriot who deeply loved his country, Mr. Bienieki was born in

Providence, a son of the late Walter and Anna Bienieki. He served our nation with honor and

distinction as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Bienieki was a hard-working professional who strived daily to provide

for his family. He worked for the Hartford Insurance Company for many years before he retired;

and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Bienieki worked tirelessly throughout his life in support of veterans and

their causes. He was one of the founding members of the Rhode Island House of Representatives

Veteran’s Affairs Advisory Council and was also a longtime member of the KWVA. In his free

time, he was an avid skier and played ice hockey for numerous amateur hockey teams; and

     WHEREAS, Walter Bienieki leaves behind his brother, Robert Bienieki, and nephews

Brian Bienieki, Jeffrey Rutkiewicz and Paul Ludvigson. He was the brother of the late Ronald

Bienieki; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Walter R. Bienieki and thanks him for his

faithful service to our nation as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War; and

be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Robert Bienieki.
