RELATING TO PUBLIC PROPERTY AND WORKS -- MANAGEMENT AND DISPOSAL

OF PROPERTY

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 37-7 of the General Laws entitled "Management and Disposal of

Property" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     37-7-16. Disposition of fire district property.

     Upon dissolution, a public ambulance service or state-chartered fire district shall liquidate

or dispose of its unencumbered real or tangible property only after first offering the property at fair

market value to the municipality in which the public ambulance service or fire district is located.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

OF PROPERTY

     This act would require a public ambulance service or state-chartered fire district, upon

dissolution, to dispose of its real or tangible unencumbered property only after first offering the

property to the municipality where public ambulance service or fire district is located, at fair market

value.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
