EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this House has learned of the passing of the |
2 | Honorable William P. Rampone, the beloved husband of Donna Rampone, the devoted father of |
3 | Sgt. Matthew Rampone, PPD., and his wife, Bridget, and Michael Rampone, and the proud Papa |
4 | of Fiona and Reid Rampone, whom he dearly loved; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Mr. Rampone grew up in the City of Providence, a son of the late Cosmo |
6 | and Mary Rampone, and the son-in-law of the late Paul and Dolores De Angelis. He was the |
7 | brother-in-law of Paul De Angelis and his wife, Joan, and Rhonda Mullen, and the uncle of |
8 | several cherished nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his brother, Victor Rampone, and |
9 | his brother-in-law Joseph Mullen; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Upon graduation from St. Edward’s Parish School and La Salle Academy, |
11 | Mr. Rampone attained his Bachelor’s degree from Providence College, and his Juris Doctor from |
12 | New England School of Law; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Mr. Rampone was admitted to the Rhode Island Bar and began what would |
14 | become a long and distinguished law career as a prosecutor with the Rhode Island Attorney |
15 | General’s Office. He subsequently became an Assistant Attorney General, and later worked for |
16 | several law firms before going into private practice; and |
17 | WHEREAS, In addition to maintaining his private practice, Mr. Rampone also served as |
18 | a bail commissioner for the State of Rhode Island, and as a member of the Rhode Island Judicial |
19 | Nominating Commission, the Narragansett Bay Commission, and the Rhode Island Judiciary |

1 | Disciplinary Board. Most recently in 2020, he had been appointed to the Providence Housing |
2 | Court, where he served as Chief Judge, and in May of the following year, was appointed as a |
3 | Magistrate with the Rhode Island Superior Court, a position he held until his passing; and |
4 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Bill Rampone possessed a talented legal mind, and a fair and |
5 | magnanimous spirit. He was blessed with the love of his family and friends and the admiration of |
6 | his peers, and he will be missed by those who had the good fortune to be a part of his vital and |
7 | fulfilling life; now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
9 | expresses deepest condolences on the passing of the Honorable William P. Rampone; and be it |
10 | further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Donna Rampone and Family. |
