IN SUPPORT OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL

     WHEREAS, On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists carried out an unprovoked,

premeditated and brutal surprise attack on the State of Israel on a major holiday of the Jewish

faith, resulting in the capture and killing of innocent men, women and children; and

     WHEREAS, This horrific and barbaric attack not only impacted the Israeli people but

people from around the world, including many American citizens who were killed or taken

hostage in the attack; and

     WHEREAS, Rhode Island is home to many individuals of Jewish faith, and countless

others who support the people of Israel; and

     WHEREAS, Israel is a staunch ally of the United States and is deserving of our nation's

unequivocal support as it defends itself against this unjustifiable and horrific attack; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

extends its deepest and heartfelt condolences to the people of the State of Israel and the families

of the victims of the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks, and moreover, in adopting this resolution,

declares its unwavering support and solidarity for the welfare, security and survival of the Israeli

people; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That this House hereby condemns acts of violence, terrorism and

discrimination against any individual or community, regardless of their background or beliefs,

and stands firmly against any form of prejudice or hatred; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That this House hereby condemns and denounces in the strongest possible

terms all instances of anti-Semitism occurring in the State of Rhode Island, the United States and

globally; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That this House hereby supports the law enforcement community in its

efforts to remain vigilant in protecting Israeli Americans, Jewish Americans and all supporters of

Israel from acts of crime and unlawful discrimination that tend to manifest in times of turmoil;

and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Israeli Ambassador to the United States, the

President of the United States, the Clerk of the United States House of Representatives, the

Secretary of the United States Senate, the Counsel General to New England for Israel, and each

member of the Rhode Island Congressional Delegation.
