H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF STEPHEN NARDELLI,

SR.

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Stephen

Nardelli, Sr., of Wakefield, the beloved husband of Jane Headley; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Nardelli was the son of the late Dante and Genevieve Nardelli. He

graduated from LaSalle Academy and received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode

Island and a Master's degree from Providence College; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Nardelli is best remembered by the Smithfield community for his many

years of distinguished and exemplary service as a Physical Education teacher. He inspired his

students to get physically active and get "moving" particularly with the "Chicken Fat" game. He

excelled as a coach of the hockey team and was a great friend to countless students, making a

positive difference in all of their lives; and

     WHEREAS, After retiring from the Smithfield Public School Department, Mr. Nardelli

worked for numerous years at the Rhode Island Department of Education. He also served the

community as Executive Director of the Rhode Island League of Charter Schools, and worked as

a lobbyist for Advocacy Solutions and the Sargent Center; and

     WHEREAS, In his free time, Mr. Nardelli enjoyed spending time at the beach, dancing,

and playing hockey with the Rhody Oldies. He will long be remembered for his big personality,

infectious laugh, being someone everyone wanted to socialize with, and for the joy and laughter

he created at a local Steve Smith and the Naked's show by singing Mustang Sally on stage. He

was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first in his life; and

     WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Jane Headley, Mr. Nardelli leaves behind his

children, Marissa Nardelli, Stephen Nardelli Jr., and his wife, Jennifer Nardelli. He was the step

father Matthew and Rachel McEntee. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Stephen III, Siena

and Sofia Nardelli, and Jack, Ryan, Adam and Owen McEntee. He is also survived by his sister,

Kathleen Nardelli and brother, Dante Nardelli; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives hereby expresses its condolences on the

passing of Stephen Nardelli, Sr; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby by is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Jane Headley and the Nardelli Family.
