CONGRATULATING DR. SABRINA ANTONELLI ON BEING NAMED THE 2023 | |
"ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR" BY THE RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, "The future," in the wise words of Eleanor Roosevelt, "belongs to those who |
2 | believe in the beauty of their dreams." Since taking the helm in July of 2018, Dr. Sabrina |
3 | Antonelli, Principal of Norwood Elementary School, has inspired her staff and the school's |
4 | students to envision the possibilities and to believe that they can build a future full of promise; |
5 | and |
6 | WHEREAS, In preparation for a career she had not originally thought would be her path, |
7 | but one that she was absolutely destined for, Principal Antonelli attended Rhode Island College, |
8 | where a career aptitude test led to her attaining her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education |
9 | and Mathematics. She had previously attended the Community College of Rhode Island where |
10 | she earned an Associate's degree in General Studies, and later attained a Master's degree from |
11 | Brown University in ESL and Cross Cultural Studies, and ultimately a Doctor of Education |
12 | (Ed.D.), in Educational Leadership and Administration from Johnson & Wales University; and |
13 | WHEREAS, To the very good fortune of students at Norwood Elementary School in |
14 | Warwick, Dr. Antonelli was named Principal in 2018. She had previously been Principal at |
15 | Randall Holden Elementary in Warwick and had taught in the Providence Public Schools for |
16 | thirteen years in various positions. In addition, for the past five years, she has also been a |
17 | Professor at Roger Williams University; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Dr. Antonelli is held in the highest regard by both faculty and students who |
19 | "widely noted that Dr. Antonelli made them feel like leaders." She has developed numerous |

1 | programs to instill students with responsibility and life skills including student council, student |
2 | safety patrols, a recess buddy program, and an in-class drama education program; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Principal Antonelli is a true and proven champion of education. She is a |
4 | tremendous asset to Norwood Elementary School and the entire school community, and her |
5 | genuine love of learning has already helped hundreds of children to succeed, and will surely |
6 | continue to inspire us all; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby congratulates Dr. |
8 | Sabrina Antonelli on the prestigious honor of being named the 2023 "Principal of the Year" by |
9 | the Rhode Island Association of School Principals. We wish her the very best of health, |
10 | happiness, and success in all her future endeavors; and be it further |
11 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
12 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Dr. Sabrina Antonelli. |
