EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF ADRIEN JOSEPH | |

1 | WHEREAS, Adrien Joseph Mandeville, a lifelong resident of Woonsocket, was a son of |
2 | the late Alfred and Helene Mandeville; and |
3 | WHEREAS, As a young boy, Mr. Mandeville was stricken with polio, yet never let it get |
4 | in the way of taking care of his mother and sister when his father and brothers were away serving |
5 | in the military. He also didn’t let his illness interfere with providing for his wife and children, |
6 | toiling tirelessly in a myriad of jobs, including selling newspapers, shining shoes, serving as a |
7 | parking lot attendant for Chan’s Restaurant, and molding extension cords at Miller Electric; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Mr. Mandeville was a man of many interests, including history, especially |
9 | Rhode Island and military history. He enjoyed attending car and motorcycle shows, and spent |
10 | countless hours building model cars and motorcycles and occasionally entering some of his |
11 | creations in magazine contests. He also enjoyed volunteering his time portraying “Gimpy the |
12 | Clown” in the 1970s, entertaining children at holiday parties and other events; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Mr. Mandeville was very involved in community and civic affairs. He was a |
14 | lifetime member of the Woonsocket Lions Club and Hearts with Hope, Inc., and was a generous |
15 | donor to children’s charities and organizations serving veterans and the homeless. He also served |
16 | on the board of the Woonsocket Neighborhood Development Committee for many years, |
17 | assisting with the revitalization of neighborhoods in the Fairmont area of Woonsocket; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Mr. Mandeville leaves behind his daughters, Helene-Marie Mandeville and |
19 | Diana Lynn Mandeville and his grandson, Jesse Mandeville. Mr. Mandeville is also survived by |

1 | his brother, Louis Mandeville, sister Lorraine Mandeville, close friends Denise Lavallee and |
2 | Carol Quaranta, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughters, |
3 | Summer and Rhiannon, his brother, Roland Mandeville and his godson, Norman Fealhaber; now, |
4 | therefore be it |
5 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends its deepest |
6 | condolences on the passing of Mr. Adrien Joseph Mandeville; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Helene-Marie Mandeville and Family, and |
9 | Diana Lynn Mandeville and Family. |
