EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF WOONSOCKET | |
DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF ROGER E. PERREAULT | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Roger |
2 | E. Perreault of Blackstone, Massachusetts. He was the son of Constance Perreault and the late |
3 | Roger Perreault, Sr., and was the beloved husband of Dale Perreault; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Mr. Perreault was a graduate of Roger Williams University, attaining a |
5 | Bachelor’s degree in public administration. He was a devoted public servant with a long and |
6 | distinguished career as a firefighter for the City of Woonsocket. He dedicated his life in service to |
7 | others and tirelessly strove to protect and ensure the safety of his family, fellow firefighters, and |
8 | the citizens of Woonsocket; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Mr. Perreault had most recently served as the Deputy Fire Chief of the |
10 | Woonsocket Fire Department. He was held in high regard by his peers and colleagues for his |
11 | tireless work ethic, for acting as a father figure for many of the new and younger firefighters, and |
12 | for training many of the first responders in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Mayor Lisa |
13 | Baldelli-Hunt had high praise for Deputy Chief Perreault, stating, “If it weren’t for being elected, |
14 | I would never had the pleasure of having Roger in my life as a professional counterpart in our |
15 | City, and I feel blessed that I was able to work with the Deputy Chief, over the last nine years”; |
16 | and |
17 | WHEREAS, Mr. Perreault was a member of the Rhode Island Fire Chiefs Association, |
18 | the IAFF Local #732, and served as the Treasurer and Secretary for the Woonsocket Firefighters |
19 | Relief Association. He also served as an instructor for the Rhode Island Division of Emergency |

1 | Medical Services, was a registered nurse and was a talented woodworker; and |
2 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Dale, and mother, Constance, Mr. Perreault leaves |
3 | behind his son, Luke Perreault, and granddaughter, Lillian “Billie” Perreault. He also leaves |
4 | behind his sisters, Lisa Buckley and her husband, Mike, and Paula Ryan and her husband, |
5 | Christopher, his brother-in-law, Michael Derois, and his wife, Liz, and his nieces and nephews, |
6 | Kate Buckley, Lauren Cole, Oliver Ryan, Jennifer Nicely, Jonathan Derois, and Jeremy Derois; |
7 | now, therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest |
9 | condolences on the passing of Deputy Fire Chief Roger E. Perreault; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Mrs. Dale Perreault and Family, and Mrs. |
12 | Constance Perreault and Family. |
