EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LAURENT EDGAR | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |
2 | Laurent Edgar Gendron, the devoted husband of Janet Gendron for seventy-one years, the |
3 | beloved father of Barbara Ducharme, John Gendron, "Dee" Dolores Ducharme, Patricia Girard, |
4 | Kevin Gendron, Daniel Gendron, and Maureen Gendron, and the father-in-law of Robert |
5 | Ducharme, Linda Gendron, Steven Faiola, Angela Gendron, Ann Marie Gendron, and the late |
6 | Ronald Ducharme and Daniel Girard; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Born in Blackstone, Massachusetts, Mr. Gendron was the son of the late |
8 | Eugene and Blanche Gendron, and the brother of Melvyn Gendron, and the late Eugene, Leonard, |
9 | William, Paul, Norman, Bernard, Elaine Martin Henault, and Loraine Cote. He served our |
10 | country with honor in the United States Army in Europe during WWII as a Non-Commissioned |
11 | Officer in the 120th Regiment, 30th Infantry Division; and |
12 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife and children, Mr. Gendron was the very proud |
13 | grandfather of eight grandchildren, Timothy Girard, Pamela Dunn, Bethany Gale, Katie Miller, |
14 | Stephanie Fleming, Andrew Gendron, Nathan Gendron, and Victoria Gendron, six great- |
15 | grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and |
16 | WHEREAS, For most of his lifetime, Mr. Gendron had made his home in the City of |
17 | Woonsocket. He was the Mailroom Supervisor at Eastland Bank until retiring in 1991, and had |
18 | previously been employed as a custodian at Sacred Heart Parish, in addition to holding positions |
19 | at several local mills; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Mr. Gendron was devoted to his faith and was a parishioner and active |
2 | member of Sacred Heart Church for many years, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and |
3 | Confirmation teacher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus; and |
4 | WHEREAS, A generous and devoted family man, and a gifted Mr. Fix-it, Laurent |
5 | Gendron never failed to lend a hand to anyone in need and had the innate ability to repair just |
6 | about anything from plumbing to cars, to electrical issues around the house. He enjoyed casual |
7 | barbeques, going out to dinner at restaurants, vacations, taking photos of "everyone and |
8 | everything" especially for special occasions, and just helping out family and friends with various |
9 | projects; and |
10 | WHEREAS, The most fitting tribute to Laurent Gendron is a celebration of his amazing |
11 | life. He was truly blessed with the love of a large and devoted family and he will be forever |
12 | remembered; now, therefore be it |
13 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends deepest |
14 | condolences to the family and friends of Laurent Edgar Gendron; and be it further |
15 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
16 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Janet Gendron and Family. |
