S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE CRANSTON HIGH SCHOOL WEST FALCONS COMBINED

ICE HOCKEY TEAM ON WINNING THE RHODE ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION II

STATE ICE HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP

     WHEREAS, The Cranston High School West Falcons Hockey Team, a combined team

comprised of players from Cranston West High School and Cranston East High School, entered

the Rhode Island Hockey Division II playoffs with a great deal of confidence and momentum

after compiling a sterling undefeated record in the regular season; and

     WHEREAS, In the Quarterfinals of the Tournament, Cranston West defeated St. Raphael

Academy 3-1 to advance to the Semifinals Game where they dispatched North Smithfield also by

the score of 3-1 to advance to the Division II Championship Series Finals; and

     WHEREAS, In a hard-fought Finals Series, Cranston won the epic first game by the

score of 4-3 in overtime. Senior Forward and Finals MVP Award winner Andrew Martin, scored

a clutch goal to tie the game before Junior Kaden Santurri scored the game-winner to give the

Falcons a big game one victory. In what turned out to be the deciding game, the Falcons jumped

out to a 3-0 lead, and thanks to Senior Goalie Matthew Corrente’s twenty-five saves, held on to

win 4-2 and secure the State Title; and

     WHEREAS, Winning a State Championship is a difficult accomplishment, one that can

only be attained if everyone on the team gives their all and puts personal aspirations behind team

goals. The Falcons had these qualities in abundance as they were led all season by the important

contributions provided by Benjamin Harding, Mickey Becker-Norton, Jacob Silva, Kaden

Santurri, David Bussius, Mark Cicerone, Harry Woloohosian, Todd Regine, Jaydin Rossi,

Cameron Arruda, Jared Ainley, Joseph Rapoza, Jason Levy, Andrew Martin, Jay Medina, Jeremy

Ainley, Justin Drohen, Jared Prior, Jaedon Case, Joshua Case, and Matthew Corrente, and the

outstanding leadership provided by Head Coach Matt Brannon; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby congratulates the

Cranston High School West Falcons combined Ice Hockey Team on winning the Rhode Island

High School Division II State Ice Hockey Championship; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Matt Brannon, Head Coach, Cranston High

School West Combined Ice Hockey Team.
